Parenthood was never meant to be done alone. You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"?

Well, welcome to your village.

On the first Monday of every month, join doulas and mothers Samantha Garcia Gagnon (from bellies inc. and samanthagagnon.com) and Yvette Stephens (from goldenearsdoula.com) and other new parents in your community to connect and share.

Each month we will have a topic that we will start the session with and then it will be an open forum for any questions or sharing you would like to give.

Topic: Exploring Intimacy and Pleasure in Parenthood
Understanding intimacy and pleasure as a parent is no light thing. Where to go and who to talk to about this incredibly vulnerable topic can be challenging and scary. Roxanna, our speaker, hopes to make this an accessible conversation and shared learning experience. We'll discuss what to expect from your body, how to redefine sex as pleasure, and how to maintain connections to yourself and partner.

    About your Speaker:
Roxanna's therapeutic passions align with her lived experiences and education around attachment, relationships, sex/sexuality, and grief. Roxanna knows first hand that how our brains and bodies process the world affects how we explore and execute attachment.
Roxanna holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Seattle University (2007) with a minor in the psychology of human sexuality. She is a Registered Social Worker with the BC College of Social Workers (#15229). Roxanna has been learning about gender and relationships (parenting, non-monogamy etc), and sexuality (kink, bdsm, 2SLGBTQIA+spectrum) since 2009. Roxanna has also been an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (
IBCLC) in private practice since 2016.

    Topic
: Supporting your energy and hormones in early motherhood.
In this discussion with Dr. Ally, we will be chatting about doable strategies and tips to support your energy and hormones in motherhood. Simple nutrition and lifestyle support, and lab work and supplements that may be beneficial will be discussed! There will also be time for a Q&A with Dr. Ally!

    About your speaker Dr. Ally:
Dr. Ally is a mom of two young boys, a Naturopathic doctor, and a motherhood coach who helps moms with young kids prioritize their health. She is passionate about not letting the mother get left behind after babies, and empowering and educating mamas on how to put themselves first. She sees firsthand with herself and patients that when moms prioritize themselves they have the energy, calm, and clarity needed for themselves and their families to thrive. She has a mostly virtual practice at Virtual Health Collective that she co-owns with her husband, Dr. Rory Gibbons, ND, where she sees mamas all over British Columbia. Dr. Ally also runs a group coaching program called Putting Mama First.

Topic: The Identity Shift of Motherhood*

In this discussion, we will talk about the massive identity shift that occurs in motherhood. You will learn about the factors that contribute to this identity shift, including the important concept of "matrescence." We'll talk about why you might feel lost since becoming a mom and ways to  (re)discover yourself in motherhood.

*anyone who identifies as a “woman.” This includes members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community, as well as anyone who has become a mother through adoption, foster care, marriage, birth or other.

    About the speaker:
Kelsie is a mom of 2 young kids, wife, community builder & Motherhood Coach.
Despite always wanting to be a mom, after having her first child, Kelsie was blind-sided by the difficult realities of motherhood and the identity crisis that ensued. She felt lost, overwhelmed, and disconnected.
Determined to get back in the driver’s seat of her life, she set out on a path of self-discovery that involved her hitting rock bottom, finding her purpose, and starting a coaching business.
Now, as a certified Life Coach and Breathwork Facilitator, she uses a variety of holistic modalities & techniques to help new moms navigate the transition to motherhood – and all the challenges that come with it – so they can step into their new identity with power & purpose, and start loving life again.
