Parenthood was never meant to be done alone. You know the saying "it takes a village to raise a child"?

Well, welcome to your village.

On the first Friday of every month, join doulas and mothers Samantha Garcia Gagnon (from bellies inc. and samanthagagnon.com) and Katrina Fortin (from Cedar Sisters Doula ) and other new parents in your community to connect and share.

Each month we will have a topic that we will start the session with and then it will be an open forum for any questions or sharing you would like to give.

    Topic:
Starting Solids and Baby Led Weaning with Tracey Carolan, IBCLC and doula with @ridgemeadowsdoulas

Starting solids can feel like a overwhelming and even scary process. What should I feed my baby? When do we start? How do I know my baby is ready to start? Should i start with purees and try baby led weaning? How can I do baby led weaning while keeping my baby safe when eating large pieces of food? Don't worry, we will get those questions answered for you.

About our guest: Tracey Carolan has been a birth and Postpartum Doula for the past 5 years with Ridge Meadows Doula Services, empowering and educating pregnant people to have the birth they are wanting. She is also a sleep educator working with children from Newborn to age 3, normalising sleep and teaching how to support the infant brain development from a neuroscience standpoint.

However her passion is supporting families with feeding. Her mom was a La Leche League leader for many years and after having her son in 2014, Tracey became one as well. In Spring of 2022 she sat the International Board Certified Lactation exam and passed and now run her own private practice By Your Side.

    Topic:

Trusting Your Parenting Intuition with Lara Raab, Registered Clinical Counsellor

Parenting has never been more full of information than it is today. Amongst all of the noise, google searches, and self-help books, it can be hard to know where to turn for the best possible advice.
What would it be like to turn to yourself in these moments of uncertainty? To strengthen your relationship with your wise inner voice as the best source of knowledge on your baby?
Our children invoke our earliest attachment systems. They trigger our earliest circuitry so that they can learn to regulate emotions with us first. As parents we can learn to turn inward in these moments of discomfort, trusting our wise inner compass, and the value of our own instincts to guide the next steps in our parenting.
Let’s join together to better understand the difference between attachment science, attachment parenting, and the role of the “good-enough” parent in raising emotionally healthy children. Understand why this inner knowing is always present, it’s role in raising connected children, and how to start finding your way back to the relationship to yourself if it’s been a bit buried along the way.
