Welcome Birthworkers!
Whether you’ve been doing this work for a few months or for many years, you know that birthwork is demanding. We give so much of our time, energy, and hearts to the families we serve. To keep on giving, we need to take the time to unload any heaviness we carry, and to have our own hearts re-filled.
In this safe circle, you can bring the hurts and disappointments you have experienced as a doula supporting folks through their fertility struggles, births, loss or termination, and postpartum times. You might be carrying the heaviness of witnessing obstetric violence, and the difficulty of supporting physiologic birth ‘in the system’. Maybe you’ve experienced disrespect from other
members of the care team. Maybe you’ve seen how little actual support there is for new families, and it’s overwhelming to try to fill that gap yourself. Perhaps you feel burnt out, and like you’re not making as much of a difference as you’d once hoped you could.
You are not alone.
Even if there’s nothing big or obvious that’s happened for you lately, it’s important to pause and feel into the little things that may be uncomfortable. Birthwork is heart work, and we all need to be able to unload the things that are weighing on our hearts in order to keep following our calling.
As a Reiki Master, I will hold a healing space for this group. In addition, we will all hold space for each other as we share what’s heavy, and as we find the blessings in each of our stories. We will use breathwork, meditation, and ceremony to connect to what’s heavy, to release it, and to fill ourselves and each other with the energy we need.
This event is organized to be accessible to all. Please choose the option best suited to you at this time:
Complimentary,
Pay What You Wish ($5-$25),
and Full-price ($30).
All profits will be donated to the Kilila Birth Keeper Collective, a group of Indigenous-led doulas supporting families in the Lower Mainland of BC. Visit www.kililabirthkeepercollective.com for more information about the collective.
If you are on call and miss the Circle to attend a birth, you will have a spot reserved in the next Healing Circle.
Thank you for taking time to seek healing for yourself. I look forward to holding space for you.
With love,
Katrina Fortin
